Shelly's Story

My Name Is Michelle

My Dad fondly called me Shelly. He would be happy to know that after 50 years his nickname for me finally stuck. I love gardening, my animals, and my Aunt Nancy. My Aunt and Uncle had a ranch at the base of Stukel Mountain in Klamath Falls, Oregon, and I consider myself a lucky girl for having them in my life. My Aunt Nancy was the center of my world, and it was her love for the outdoors that had us walking with our dogs along the banks of Lost River and up the mountain to the patch of cottonwood trees. The time I spent with her and my memories with her are priceless; I loved the wildflowers, she loved the trees. She especially loved her apricot trees and had a small orchard. I lost my Aunt in 2016 and I miss her beyond measure. To garden naturally is to remember my Aunt Nancy. She was my rock and my teacher. She didn't just grow gardens; she grew a way of life.
